Searching for the best trail camera can sometimes feel like a lot of work and similar to the quest to find the Holy Grail. So trying to answer the question what is the best trail camera can be a daunting task.

The best trail camera is out there somewhere, however, no one has been able to find it so far.

I believe that there is more than one trail camera that can be considered the best trail camera that you can buy.

Think about how many factors you need to take into account before deciding what’s the best trail camera for you. A few quick examples could be a brand that you are familiar with.

Yes, selecting just ONE game camera, can be more complicated than you originally thought. But no need to worry.

This is where today’s guide will come in handy and I’ll take you through a list of several trail cams to determine what makes a trail camera top of the list.

What is the best trail camera? The answer to the question is determined by what your needs are. What most people are looking for is a trail camera that is easy to setup, will take high quality pictures, and will be durable enough withstand the elements for several months.

Over the years, I have researched many trail cameras to determine which camera best meets these criteria. Here is the list of my best trail cameras.

Moultrie Panoramic 150

Moultrie is known for reliable, durable and affordable high-quality game cameras. They value their customers and provide outstanding customer service and an industry standard warranty.

The Moultrie Panoramic 150 is the all around best trail camera that I have ever worked with. While most game cameras have an average of a 50-degree field of view, the Moultrie Panoramic 150 has a whopping 150-degree field of view. The motion sensors detect prey within 45 feet as the lens silently moves to capture the photos by taking 2 or 3 shots and combining them into one.

There are many great features of this amazing game camera. The available modes are: Hybrid, Multi-Shot, Time Lapse, Single, Trigger Speed and Motion Detect Delay. The camera also has an easy to navigate interface with an LCD screen along with a Night Function and a Night Freeze function.

A game camera can offer the hunter the extra edge needed to bag the trophy game. Game cameras are capable of catching the animals in the area when no one’s around. A camera can be placed on a tree or post in the area you plan to hunt to see what size animals frequent the area.

The Bushnell Trophy Cam HD Essential offers both video and photo capabilities with a 12 megapixel resolution and HD video option. The camera has a 0.3 second trigger speed to capture quick shots of any movement within 40-50 feet of the view of the flash.

Browning Strike Force

Browning is known for providing hunting and outdoor supplies, including firearms, gun safes and ammunition. They also supply innovative technology to help hunters have the upper hand with products like game cameras and shooting accessories.

A game camera can be used to spot game in your hunting area before the season begins. They can be very useful if you’re trying to decide which area has the biggest and best game and can help in planning out your strategy for the hunting season.

The Browning Strike Force game camera has a trigger time of 0.67 seconds. It can also record HD video with sound for anywhere from 5 seconds to 2 minutes. It has a 100 foot flash range and it comes with the Browning Buck Watch time lapse software.

SPYPOINT HD-7

SPYPOINT is a brand of trail cameras for hunters to use. The cameras can be linked to a MySPYPOINT camera and photo management account which can be accessed from any device with an internet connection. They have recently released the SPYPOINT HD-7 trail camera.

The HD-7 is a game camera for taking high-definition action shots of wildlife. It is a seven megapixel, infrared camera with a 50-foot detection zone. The camera can take four pictures at a time in burst mode and takes 720p, high-definition videos with sound. The camera is equipped with a motion sensor, and the distance detection sensor adjusts between five and sixty-five feet.

The biggest pro to the HD-7 is the quick trigger. Capturing the fastest animals isn’t difficult with the responsiveness of the trigger. However, the biggest drawback is its narrow detection zone. While it detects 50 feet in distance, the detection zone on the HD-7 is only 35 degrees, while many cameras offer 50 degree detection – about a 30 percent decrease in the width. Also, the recovery time in single-shot mode is a lengthy ten seconds.

Overall, the HD7 can take high definition pictures of game and wildlife, but you may not be able to get the shot you want to get due to the narrow detection and slow recovery time.
